About Heber City
Heber City (more familiar as Heber) is located in Wasatch County, Utah. The city was established in the late 1840 by the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The name of Heber City comes from the Mormon apostle Heber C. Kimball. The city was incorporated in 1889 and it had many dairy farms and cattle ranching.
Heber City is a tourist destination that can't be easily forgotten. In summer Heber City serves as a convenient stop for travelers that explore the Wasatch Mountains and in winter is a very cheap accommodation for the skiers. This city is a recreational one, having a lot of entertainment venues. You can practice here snowmobiling, skiing (both downhill and cross-country), horseback riding, mountain biking, camping, golfing, boating, fishing, hot air ballooning, water sports, and even scuba diving.
The Provo River attracts a lot of fisherman from all over the country because it is famous for the blue-ribbon fly fishing and the water ice fishing. Heber City is just minutes away from the skiing facilities and resorts such as Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort, and the Canyons Resort.
The main historical tourist attraction in Heber City is The Heber Valley Historic Railroad that dates back to 1899. Here tourists can take part in the special events including Comedy Murder Mysteries, Raft the River in the summer, Dances, the famous Sunset Special Barbecue Dinner Train and during Christmas children can ride the "The Polar Express." Nearby, tourists can find the Homestead Crater's 90° mineral water and Soldier Hollow's day lodge (home of the 2002 Olympic Games).
Heber City hosts a lot of motels, restaurants, cafes and fast foods. Within an hour drive from the city there are a three national forests and state parks, such as Deer Creek State Park, Jordanelle State Park and Wasatch Mountain State Park. Pioneer artifacts dating back to the 1800s can be admired in museums in Heber City like Midway DUP Museum and Wasatch County DUP.
